Day 1MARRAKECH - HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS - AIT BEN HADDOU KASBAH - OUARZAZATE

Kick off your 5-day Marrakech to Fes adventure with a morning pick-up and breathtaking mountain views as you wind through the High Atlas. We’ll pause to capture the scenery and explore the historic Telouet Kasbah, a former El Glaoui stronghold. Next stop: the stunning Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO site and movie star (think Gladiator and Game of Thrones!). Lunch is on you before we delve deeper into this ancient marvel. Our journey continues to Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa,” where you can explore the world-famous Atlas Studios or the impressive Taourirt Kasbah, another El Glaoui legacy. After soaking it all in, we’ll settle you into your hotel for dinner and a restful night.

Day 2OUARZAZATE - SKOURA - KELAAT M'GOUNA - BOU THARAR - DADES VALLEY

Our day starts with a delicious breakfast before we head to Skoura, a hidden oasis teeming with palm groves. Explore the Amridil Kasbah, a window into 300-year-old kasbah life.

Next stop: Kelaat M’Gouna, famed for its Rose Valley. If it’s springtime, witness the valley ablaze with roses. We’ll continue through Berber villages, stopping for tea with a nomadic family living in a mountain cave.

After an off-road adventure, we’ll arrive at Dades Valley. Check into your hotel and unwind. Explore Dades Valley on a leisurely walk or a guided hike through the Monkey Fingers Canyon, known for its dramatic rock formations. As evening falls, enjoy a delicious dinner and a peaceful night’s sleep at your hotel.

Day 3DADES VALLEY - TODRA GORGE - MERZOUGA DESERT

Fueled by a delicious breakfast, we hit the road for the captivating Merzouga desert. Our journey includes a stop at the awe-inspiring Todra Canyon, where you can stretch your legs with a walk and soak in the panoramic views of the Tinghir oasis.

As the afternoon unfolds, we’ll arrive at Merzouga for an unforgettable experience. Trade your car for a traditional camel and traverse the vast dunes, witnessing a breathtaking sunset from the highest peaks. Upon reaching our luxurious desert camp, a warm welcome with refreshing tea awaits. Settle into your private tent, indulge in a delicious dinner, and then gather around a crackling campfire. Day 4MERZOUGA DESERT EXPLORATION

Rise and shine! Today’s the perfect day to catch the desert sunrise with a delicious breakfast to fuel your adventures.

First up, we’ll delve into the village of Khamlia, renowned for its captivating Gnawa music, a traditional style with roots in South Africa. Next, we’ll take an off-road adventure to the abandoned village of M’Fis, once known for its Galena mines.

Prepare to be humbled by Berber hospitality as we visit a local family living near the Erg Chebbi Dunes. This is your chance to witness their unique way of life, untouched by modern trappings. Refuel with lunch before reaching a charming riad with stunning views of the golden dunes. Relax, take a dip, or simply soak in the breathtaking scenery. As the sun dips below the horizon, we’ll embark on a leisurely stroll to witness another mesmerizing sunset paint the dunes.

Day 5MERZOUGA - ZIZ VALLEY - IFRANE - FES

Another magical sunrise awaits! Rise early and soak in the stunning views of the Erg Chebbi dunes from your riad. After a delicious breakfast, we hit the road for Fes.

Our journey takes us through some incredible spots. Explore the charming Ziz Valley, keep an eye out for Barbary monkeys in the Azrou cedar forest, and admire the beauty of “Switzerland of Morocco,” the town of Ifrane.

By late afternoon, we’ll arrive in Fes! Your guide will ensure a smooth drop-off at the closest accessible point to your hotel or riad, marking the perfect end to your unique 5-day adventure from Marrakech to Fes.

How far is Merzouga from Marrakech?

Marrakech to Merzouga is 564 km, first night you will sleep in Dades valley and reach Merzouga on second day. Day 3 you will spend driving back to Marrakech.

Does the first night hotel in Dades Valley provide private rooms?

A shared triple or quadruple room is included in the tour price. For a private room, please choose an upgrade (costs EUR 10 per person). Private rooms are AC and shared rooms are without AC.

Can we bring our luggage on this tour?

Yes, you can bring your luggage with you, it can stay safe in the minivan.

What do we need to pack for Merzouga desert camp?

Please prepare a small backpack with essentials for the camping and your personal belongings. Do not forget sunglasses, a scarf, a hat, comfortable walking shoes and in winter also warm sleeping clothes. For the camel ride we recommend to wear jeans or long trousers.

How cold is it during the night in the desert?

In winter it gets quite cold at night in the desert (temperatures can drop to around 0). You will be provided with warm blankets, but we would advise to bring warm clothes for sleeping.

Is there a required minimum number to run the tour?

The camel trek lasts for about 1 hour, depending on the season, daylight, etc.
