Commence on a luxurious adventure across eastern Morocco! Our comfortable, air-conditioned minibus will pick you up directly from your Marrakech hotel at 7:15 am and whisk you away on an exciting journey. We’ll traverse the majestic Atlas Mountains before descending to the fascinating Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah.
This historic site, with its six Kasbahs within fortified walls, will transport you back in time. Imagine bustling markets, roaming nomads, and echoes of gladiatorial battles. After a guided tour, savor a delicious lunch within the Kasbah walls.
Next, we journey to Ouarzazate, a city nicknamed “The Gateway to the Desert” and a popular filming location for Hollywood blockbusters like The Mummy and Lawrence of Arabia. Take a moment to soak in the scenery that has captivated filmmakers before continuing towards Dades Valley.
Unwind and relax at a charming Dades guesthouse with a private en-suite bathroom. In the evening, indulge in a delightful Moroccan dinner, a perfect end to your first day of adventure.
On day two, fuel up with a delicious breakfast before heading to the awe-inspiring Todra Gorge. Its dramatic scenery is so incredible, you’ll wonder why it’s not a world wonder! After lunch, we continue our journey to Merzouga, deep within the desert.
Here, the adventure truly begins! We’ll embark on a camel trek across the vast Erg Chebbi dunes, arriving at our comfortable Berber camp for the night. Relax and soak up the atmosphere before enjoying a delicious dinner. The next morning, we’ll savor breakfast at the camp before setting off on our return trip to Marrakech.
Get ready for an exciting day exploring the Sahara! We recommend rising early to witness a magical desert sunrise from your camp. After a delicious breakfast, we’ll whisk you away in a 4×4 for a day packed with adventure.
Our first stop is a nomadic settlement, where you’ll be warmly welcomed by the residents and offered a cup of tea in their tent. This is a unique chance to learn how they’ve adapted to living in such a demanding environment.
Next, we journey off the beaten path to a deserted village, once home to miners who worked the Galena mines. You’ll get a glimpse into this bygone community.
The afternoon brings us to the village of Khamlia, where you’ll be captivated by the rhythmic sounds of Gnaoua music, played by locals with roots in Sub-Saharan Africa. Here, you can savor a delicious lunch and soak up the vibrant culture.
Depending on the water levels, we might make a final stop at a lake near Merzouga before returning to your comfortable riad.
Our day begins with a breathtaking sunrise from the rooftop of our riad. After soaking it in, we hit the road, venturing first to the historic town of Rissani for a taste of its lively souk. We’ll then wind our way through the captivating Draa Valley, stopping in Agdez to admire the valley’s vast beauty. By afternoon, we’ll reach our comfortable riad in Ouarzazate, ready to unwind after a day of exploration.
On our last day, we’ll fuel up with breakfast at your riad before departing Ouarzazate, nicknamed “the Gateway to the Sahara” and “Hollywood of Africa” for its film studios and historical Kasbah of Taourirt.
Next, we head to the awe-inspiring Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Explore this ancient kasbah, a backdrop for famous movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones.
Our adventure continues through the majestic High Atlas Mountains, offering views of the fascinating Telouet Kasbah. Finally, we arrive back in bustling Marrakech, where we’ll drop you off at your accommodation, concluding your unforgettable 5-day desert adventure.
Marrakech to Merzouga is 564 km, first night you will sleep in Dades valley and reach Merzouga on second day. Day 3 you will spend driving back to Marrakech.
A shared triple or quadruple room is included in the tour price. For a private room, please choose an upgrade (costs EUR 10 per person). Private rooms are AC and shared rooms are without AC.
Yes, you can bring your luggage with you, it can stay safe in the minivan.
Please prepare a small backpack with essentials for the camping and your personal belongings. Do not forget sunglasses, a scarf, a hat, comfortable walking shoes and in winter also warm sleeping clothes. For the camel ride we recommend to wear jeans or long trousers.
In winter it gets quite cold at night in the desert (temperatures can drop to around 0). You will be provided with warm blankets, but we would advise to bring warm clothes for sleeping.
