From Tangier to the Sahara Desert: 10 Days in Morocco

On the first day of your Moroccan journey, we will greet you at the Tangier port or airport. Our adventure begins with a visit to the renowned Hercules Cave, one of Tangier’s most famous landmarks. We then proceed to the picturesque blue city of Chefchaouen, traveling through the scenic Rif Mountains and taking in their breathtaking views.

Upon arrival in Chefchaouen, you’ll have the opportunity to stroll through the charming Medina at your leisure, immersing yourself in the vibrant Moroccan culture. We will spend the night in Chefchaouen, allowing you to fully experience the magic of this unique city.

Following breakfast at the Riad in Chefchaouen, our journey begins as we head towards Volubilis, passing through Ouazzan and other picturesque Rif villages, with springtime fields creating a lush green landscape.

Upon reaching Volubilis, we’ll take a break to explore the Roman ruins and delve into the history of this remarkable archaeological site. We will then proceed to Meknes, a city with 17th-century heritage, where we’ll stop for lunch. Afterward, we’ll stroll around the massive historical walls of the Medina, visit Bab El Mansour, and enjoy a tour of the Moulay Ismail mausoleum.

After exploring Meknes, we’ll continue our journey to Fes, where you’ll spend the night in the heart of Fes Medina.

Today, we delve into the heart of Morocco’s oldest city, Fes. Our journey through Fes Medina begins with a stroll through its narrow alleys and streets, guided by a local expert. We’ll start by visiting the Royal Palace gate, the Jewish Quarter, and the historic first Mellah. Next, we’ll embark on an immersive walk through the majestic alleys and high walls of the Medina, stopping at local souks along the way.

For lunch, we pause at a traditional restaurant to savor local cuisine. Our exploration continues as we visit the renowned tanneries of Fes, the Bou Anania Madrasa, and the Al-Qarawiyyin University, established between 857 and 879, which serves as the city’s spiritual and educational hub.

Finally, we’ll transport you to your authentic Riad located in the Medina of Fes.

**Departure for the Morocco Sahara Desert: An Unforgettable Journey

At 8 AM, we depart from our Riad in Fes to begin a private tour toward the enchanting Morocco Sahara Desert. Our journey takes us through the stunning Middle Atlas mountains, the picturesque national park of Ifrane, and the charming town of Ifrane, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco.” Here, we pause for a coffee break, allowing time to soak in the town’s beauty and capture memorable photographs.

Continuing our adventure, we head towards Azrou, where we will visit the magical cedar forest to see the Barbary Apes monkeys. For lunch, we will stop in Midelt, offering the option to dine at a restaurant or enjoy a traditional Moroccan Tagine at a chosen spot along the way.

In the afternoon, our route takes us across the Tizi N Telghomt pass to reach Errachidia, where we will admire the breathtaking Ziz Gorges. These gorges present incredible photographic opportunities, with our knowledgeable drivers guiding us to the best spots. We then proceed to enjoy a panoramic view of the Ziz Valley, traveling through Aoufous and Erfoud, the renowned capital of fossils, before arriving at the Erg Chebbi Dunes.

Here, we embark on an exotic camel ride, a 1.5-hour journey leading us to our luxury camp. We will spend the night under the starry skies of the Sahara, creating an unforgettable desert experience.

If you rise early, the Sahara desert presents a breathtaking sunrise, particularly enchanting as the first rays illuminate the reddish dunes of Erg Chebbi.

After breakfast, we can leisurely ride camels back to the edge of the dunes to fully appreciate the extraordinary beauty of Erg Chebbi. Alternatively, you might opt for a morning quad biking adventure.

Around 9 am, we will depart for Todgha Gorges, renowned as a key destination for rock climbers in Morocco. Enjoy the towering, narrow gorges of the west, where we offer peaceful walks. Later, our Morocco tour continues to Dades Valley for dinner and accommodation.

Nestled in the Dades Valley, we have traversed over 1000 kilometers since the start of our 10-day tour, immersing ourselves in the rich experiences Morocco has to offer. Despite being only on day 6, there is still much more to discover!

Today, we journey along the road of a thousand kasbahs, passing through the enchanting Valley of the Roses, particularly breathtaking in April and May when the roses are in full bloom. Our next stop is Ouarzazate, where we’ll explore the renowned Cinema Studio and the historic Taourirt Kasbah.

Our travels then take us to Ksar Ait Ben Haddou, the best-preserved ksar in southern Morocco, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. We will take a walking tour of this remarkable site and enjoy lunch in the vicinity.

In the afternoon, we continue our adventure to Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas mountain range via the Tizi N Tichka Pass at an elevation of 2260 meters. This route offers stunning views of the small valleys, the Atlas Mountains, and Berber villages.

We arrive in Marrakech in the early evening, ready to spend the night in the heart of the Medina.

Essaouira, once known as Mogador to its Portuguese inhabitants, is a beloved destination for many tourists. This quaint coastal town is renowned for its local handicrafts, particularly thuja wood furniture, carvings, and various small art pieces, which are plentiful in the numerous shops lining its breezy streets.

Upon arriving in Essaouira around midday, you will have the freedom to stroll through its Medina and local markets.
